The next issue of the USJF judo magazine will be the last with Marisa Pedulla as the editor. She’s done a great job there and will be missed.

Thursday:

Opening ceremonies start on Thursday at 9:00am sharp. The row of high ranking martial artists stretches long and far. And then it starts — 6 sessions in the main gym, 1 in the auxiliary gym, and the kata stage is in motion too. The kids smile ear to ear under the command of Mike Szrejter, Jimmy Riggs, Nick Lowe and a cast of many more. The coaching classrooms gather for the beginning of a 2-day session. The Katame No Kata session begins. Twelve hours of Judo/Jiu Jitsu. The enthusiasm is contagious. (My personal favorite of the day being Kenka Yotsu by Sensei Stan Wentz – gotta love the lefties).
