MBR Day 5

Day_53 It doesn’t look like a lot got done, but belive me when I say we did a bunch today.

We bought and cut the Hardiboard underlayment for the tile. In itself, that was two or three hours. But, that important rule of life stepped in:

Before you do anything, you have to do something else first!

First, we cut and installed the luan on the floor under where the tub and vanity were to get the floor closer to flat. Then we had to find someone that knew tile work well enough to give us the right advice on which thinset to use to put down the Hardiboards. Then we had to take out the molding around the door frame because we couldn’t easily cut it at the bottom. Then we found that the toilet flange was cracked. That meant a trip back to Lowes to get plumbing parts. Finally we had to grab some scrap linolium to finish evening out the floor.

Lots of work, but it means we can set the Hardiboard pretty quick on our next workday. That won’t be tommorrow! We are going to Moore’s Wall to spend a day climbing.
