I mentioned before that I got in a little climbing with a couple of guys I work with while I was up in Northern Virginia last week. I just got a few pictures and thought I’d post them here.
We climbed at the Great Falls park on the Virginia side of the river. The link below has routes, directions, and information if you are really interested.
We climbed Cornice – a fairly easy 5.7 that is a lot of fun. It has a little overhang with big holds near the top so you can get good pictures. Plus, you can climb up any number of different ways. It is a great little practice climb.
Here is a picture of Ed entering the chimney near the base of t
he climb. It had been a while since Ed had climbed, but he remembered how to do it and managed to get right on up the climb.
Here is Robby pulling up out of the little squeeze chimney. He had very little climbing experience but managed to climb pretty well. It must have been great coaching…
This is me goofing around on the overhang. I’m hanging on my left arm and posting out with my right. Now if I could only do the one arm chinup…
As many times as I’ve climbed this, I should have been able to climb it better. I could tell I’m out of practice.
We had fun. Too bad Ivy wasn’t there. She climbs this like stairs.
