We spent all day Saturday at Crowder’s Mountain climbing. It was much hotter than last week up at Table Rock, but we had fun anyway. We climbed with some people we met at climbing.com. They set up a climb on David’s Castle wall and I set up Overhang Direct on the backside of David’s Castle.
There was a pretty big crowd there, but we lucked out and didn’t have any obnoxious people around while we were playing on the rock. All of the climbing was toproped not too hard. It felt good to spend some time climbing and not worrying about a lead fall.
There were a couple of guys wandering around looking for sport climbs – we told them to go to West Virginia because sport climbing wasn’t allowed in North Carolina. I’m not sure what they thought of that.
Here is Ivy stretched out at the base of Overhand Direct. We had a super nice shaded belay spot. She is the little spot of burnt orange down there.
