Ivy did a masterful job of turning out a Thanksgiving meal for us in spite of the fact that our kitchen looks like a construction site – heck it is a construction site. She had the idea to get a mop sink to use until we get cabinets back. We’ll put the sink into the basement washroom then. She ran down to the basement and scrounged a scrap of plywood and brought it and my portable workbench up and made an insant countertop for the microwave and the little toaster oven.
We got most of the drywall up. Just mud/tape/sand to go on it. Fortunately, most of the wall will be hidden by cabinets. We don’t have to make it perfect.
I’ve started on leveling out the floor and preparing it for putting in the laminate. We discovered that the threshold to the exterior door was not going to work with the new flooring. So – in keeping with the spirit of always having to do something else first, we are putting a new exterior door in. The existing one had loose panes of glass and wasn’t good for much, anyway. I’m doing some measuring and it looks like we’ll have to move the duct for the AC/heating air vent. It will be in the way of the lazy susan in the corner by the sink. The finish line on this project keeps moving out with stuff like this popping up.
