We made the drive to Brevard to climb at Looking Glass with Tom and Jack on Saturday. We decided to go to the Nose area and managed to be the first people out there. Unfortunately, I wandered around lost for a bit and another party jumped on the nose before we started up. The four of us decided to climb Sundial Crack, which was fine with me as prefer it to the Nose anyway. Ivy did the first pitch, but her ankle was pretty sore so she went back down.
Tom led the first two pitches in fine fashion. It took him a while to figure out placing the protection and trusting the eyebrows, but he worked it out just fine. I led the crack pitch but was using the rack of Jack and Tom’s gear. I really missed my stuff. You don’t realize how used to your own gear you get until you have a different brand of stuff in different sizes. Suddenly you can’t just grab the blue cam for that crack any more.
