We went up to Table Rock for a bit of climbing again on Friday. Robby, my co-worker and buddy from sunny Florida was in Tenessee for a family vacation. He managed to steal a day free from the family and meet us to get his first taste of multi-pitch climbing.
The weather cooperated with our plans for a change. We've made three trips to Table Rock in the last three weeks. The last two times ended up in pretty good soakings. We would have been dryer jumping in a swimming pool. They say there is a drought here. I don't buy it. We have rain at least once or twice every week – usually on whatever day we choose to go climb.
We climbed Jim Dandy and My Route. Two fairly easy climbs with a bit of exposure. I got to show Robby the spot I stood on when I got hit by lighting. We had a laugh over that. Ivy coached Robby up the mountain and he did a good job of climbing. There are a couple of spots on My Route that are a bit intimidating, he climbed right on through them.
Here is a picture up at the top of the mountain – proof he survived the climbing. Robby has some more that I'll add later.
