Catching Up

With the help of friends with strong backs we finally have all the really heavy stuff moved into the new house. Of all the stuff we have, the new couch and the foosball table were the worst. The couch didn't really fit in the door. We had to go through gyrations to squeeze in. The table was just plain heavy and awkward going up to the loft. I think those two items are permanent fixtures in the house now. All that is left is to put tons of stuff away, build some nice bookcases for the library, build storage shelves in the laundry, build some cabinets and storage in the garage/shop, finish putting sod in the back yard for Mischief, and install her dog door. Whew – moving is so much fun.

We did get all the climbing gear out of the storage unit. I'm hoping that we can get out to Enchanted Rock next month. I could use a day of climbing.

On a much sadder note, we lost our big guy, Chaos, the week before moving in to the the house. The tumor in his jaw was only getting worse. He was a great companion and wonderful part of the family. We miss him like the dickens. Losing one of these guys hurts. I sat in the parking lot at the vets and wept. I know it was the right time and right thing to do, but taking him in there was painfully hard.

Mischief clearly misses her big brother, but seems to be coping with the changes well enough. We are hoping that the move to the new house that Chaos never visited helps.
