Moonlight…Feels Right

Here is the view from the cockpit of the boat last night…Moonrise & Sunset. Talk about hard to beat.

When we bought the new boat there was a wooden door between the living room and bathroom/bedroom area. (Salon, head, & V-berth in silly sailor lingo) The Previous Owner had flipped the door so it opened with the hinges on the left side rather than the right side. I was forever banging into it and it clunked when the boat rocked. It would have been worse on the the original side. We decided to pull it out and replace it with a curtain. Ivy found the perfect material to add a little color and spice to the cabin. She doubled them so that they were pretty from both sides. What a great job she did!

On the impeller front…we had sucess of a sort. I guess with boats as well as with most things in life, you gotta really enjoy the small sucesses because the big ones are kinda hard to come by. I pulled the entire water pump, replaced the hard to get to screws over the impeller cover, replaced the seals and gaskets for the impeller and the pump and put it all back together nice and neat. When we tested it, there was still a little dripping from a little hole in the pump housing. I've done a bit of research and discovered this is a common problem with this engine and a rebuild kit for the water pump is about $130. A new water pump is $190. Looks like a new pump will be on order soon. I may also get a Spead Seal impeller cover so that I can make a quick fix of things if the impeller ever dies while we are out.

We are also going to replace our bulbs with some LEDs so we can save battery power and don't heat the boat up with incandescant lights. The list is a living thing that grows and shrinks but never has an end.
