It’s been a busy few months. My mom was hospitalized with pneumonia and I went to be with the family for about 2 weeks. Once back home I played the catch-up game with chores & bills.
We celebrated Halloween at the Yacht Club with friends. There was a dinner, live music & dancing. I dressed up as a skeleton. It was lots of fun. Selene & the kiddos also had a fun Halloween.
We have taken the boat out several times & are building our confidence in handling her. We had a day of bad un-docking but Stan has been perfect every time since. Mother Nature is kind to us; she often mellows the wind as we come in to dock making it so much easier.
My mom went back into the hospital & gave us a good scare but is home & seems to be doing well now. Stan has surgery on his ankle later this month. Hopefully it will relieve the pain.
This past weekend was the Wurstfest sailboat race. We decided to motor around the race course & take photos. Patti Stickle joined us & off we went. Oh my! There were at least 80 sail boats on the lake & they were flying. They were much faster than our poor under powered engine. We felt like a duck in a shooting gallery, trying so hard to stay out of the way. We did not realize that they would set up so many races at the same time & found we had no where that we were not in someone’s line. Yikes! Stan did a great job getting us back to safer waters.
And the sail back was really nice.
We have (as always) boat chores. Boat chores often require some creative positions.
Some things marked off the list, a few added & some rearranged in priority. We replaced the Lazy Jacks which meant I got to go up the mast for the 1st time. We were able to remove a fairly large black box (the wires had been cut & it served no purpose) that was attached on a bulkhead. We are anxious to take care of replacing the water pump (it arrived today) and then we must work on windows (they all leak) On the fun stuff, we have a new radio & speakers ready to be installed.
So it has been an exciting busy time. We will see you next time.
