A Very Nice Day

I took advantage of a slow Friday afternoon and headed for the lake at mid-day for some very much needed relaxing time. By the time I got to the boat, Ivy had it all ready to go out.

The winds were blowing down the length of the lake and Ivy wisely suggested we head upwind so that we can have an easy downwind run home. About the time we started up the lake, I remembered a new app I pulled in – Map My Track. I fired it up and it kept a track of our path. It did a pretty good job with one exception. I really don't think we had the 38 feet of elevation change it reported - I think I might have noticed the waterfall as we went over it. If I didn't, I guarantee that Ivy would have noticed and mentioned it in passing.

Hmm – it just occurred to me that it might have measured all of our bobbing up and down as an elevation change, but I have trouble buying that.

In any case, here is the track:
Sail track 3-13-15

You can see that I turned it on (little green dot) after we came out of our cove. Then we tacked up and around the bend towards Cranes Mill Marina. Then we flipped back and cruised downwind all the way back. It is interesting to see the upwind path. We kept the boat pinched as tight to the wind as we could. You can see where the wind shifted buy the curving path between the sharp tacks. You can also see the loop we made when we dropped the main as we headed in to the marina. (near the big green dot)

Ivy did a great job running the sails, we got the boat in and out without drama, I got a cool app to play with, and we both got some much needed sunshine and downtime. I spent about six weeks with a head cold followed by an interminable cough that kicked my butt. I'm so much fun to take care of when I'm not feeling good that I'm sure Ivy needed her sunshine fix and happy time. Work lately has kind of been a pain in a certain body part (if you know what I mean), and we've been pretty much in a rut. I'm really glad that we broke out and just had a really nice day on the lake. I'm hoping for another one on Sunday.
