Back on Track!

They installed the new door last week while I was in DC. Ivy said it was 19 degrees out when they started working on it. It made for a cold day for all, but I’m glad we had that done rather than trying it ourselves.

We finished the floor last Saturday. It went surprisingly well. Then we started what we thought would be an easy part of the job – painting. Whew – that turned out to be a real mess. We primed everything and looked around to realize that we needed another coat of primer. It took over two gallons of primer to finally lock down some of the old stains on the ceiling and cover everything else. We finally got some color on the wall – it looks pretty bright compared to what we thought it would be, but I think we are at a stage to just live with it. We managed to get the last of the lights installed, and the room is starting to take shape.

Next, I have a bit of plumbing to do with the supply lines so that we can start installing cabinets. The cabinets, sink, disposal, and dishwasher are the next big chore.
