We went out sailing yesterday. It was a very nice day for it. The burning heat of the Texas summer wasn't as bad as it usually is this time of year. The winds were good, too. It made for and easy breezy day. We took the boat out and headed up to the dam. I wanted to get a little further up that way, but the sailboat racing was going on and we didn't want to intrude. Those guys take the whole racing thing pretty seriously.
On the way back we stopped and anchored so we could swim a little. We picked a bad spot for it though. The anchor held like a champ, but the wakes of the passing boats made floating and swimming a challenge.
I captured our day out with Map My Tracks. It makes for some interesting viewing. The two times the boat went its very fastest was down wind when it felt like we were crawling along.
You can zoom in and see where we wandered a bit as we raised the sails.
I like the track of when we stopped and anchored for a swim. You can see where we dropped the anchor and then the blob where we stopped and bobbed around.
That is a nifty little app. I imagine the racer guys would really get into the details of it.
Ivy managed the sails and anchor raising like a pro. She is a great partner on the boat. She also had a great lunch for us once we got back in. I may have to keep her.
